Following on from my the recent post about a wedding inspiration editorial shoot that I created at the beautiful Bignor Park in West Sussex, here is the second part of the shoot. As a West Sussex Wedding Photographer, I chose Bignor Park for this Mid-Summer Night’s Dream inspired shoot, for its beautiful grounds and Grecian temple. In the first part of the shoot, I focused on the character of Titania as the ethereal and romantic Queen of the Fairies and the long grass surrounding the temple and the dew pond on the edge of a wood were the perfect setting for exploring this soft and dreamy aspect of her personality. For the second part of the shoot, inspired by the independent, fierce and strong side of her character, I chose the more formal gardens and clean white interiors.
Our bride wore a stunning gown by Claire Pettibone, featuring a regal cape and intricate lace detailing and Rebecca Avery Flowers created a regal crown from foraged foliage, perfect for a Queen of the Fairies. To complement the regal but still natural styling, Agata Julia wound a soft loose bun in our bride’s hair, which the flower crown or a statement full length veil (also from Claire Pettibone) could easily be fixed into. Make-up was kept as a slightly stronger variation on the natural look by Sylwia Kunysz, with a soft grey eye shadow and rosy coral lip.
Jenna Hewitt styled a beautifully elegant tablescape, refined but full of earthy colours and textures. Soft peach silk and white cotton runners from Kate Cullen created a gentle accent to a simple wooden trestle table and benches from Virginia’s Vintage Hire. A few antique brass candlesticks supplied by The Toast, a crystal decanter of red wine and lush figs were the only other decorations needed to create a wedding breakfast inspired by natural beauty and refinement. Rebecca Avery’s floral arrangement took centre stage; beautifully open and semi-wild, peachy roses and chrysanthemums, with ripe nigella and grass seed heads were the epitome of a loose and abundent Mid-Summer feast. Miss Modern Calligraphy, created truly unique place cards, hand embossing calligraphy names onto textured paper, decorated with simple burgundy ribbon from Kate Cullen.
A simple, wedding cake of neutral buttercream icing was decorated with a delicate floral topper from Rebecca Avery Flowers who also created the loose and unstructured bridal bouquet, gathered together with a range of streaming silk ribbons from Kate Cullen. The neutral walls of the converted stables at Bignor Park were perfect for this setting. All the styling elements were kept understated and pared back, for a bride who celebrates the details of natural beauty.
As a Sussex wedding photographer, I was spoilt for more choices of settings at Bignor Park for this second half of the bridal inspiration shoot. The formal gardens with their structured topiary hedges and pathways were the perfect backdrop to show the regal train of the Claire Pettibone gown, with its intricate lace detailing. Late afternoon light streamed through the hedges and trees and created the most beautiful golden light, to give a completely natural glow to our Queen Titania. This is my favourite time of day to take flattering portraits, and something I always try to work into any wedding or bridal inspiration photoshoot.
If you are planning to celebrate your wedding at the gorgeous Bignor Park (where I am so happy to be a recommended supplier) or if you are inspired to use fine art storytelling to create beautiful details for your wedding, I would love to hear from you.
With thanks to this wonderful team…
